When adding an asset, "Apply Template" field could be mandatory vs optional manual selection.

When adding an asset, "Apply Template" field could be mandatory vs optional manual selection. This would automate book information data entry, which would result in time efficiency and improved accuracy of data entry.

We (Tax Dept) are currently spending ridiculous amount of time correcting Tax, State, ADS book data entry because personnel entering new assets at each of our 20+ locations don't follow the process and don't use predefined templates (see attached); and it's virtually impossible to hold all of our locations accountable for not following the process we set up.

Please help!

    Thank you for the suggestion!

    Would the idea below, which could be done in the application now, be helpful?

    1. Use one of the general information fields to indicate which template was applied.

      1. For example, Custom Field 1 could be renamed to 'Template Name.'

      2. Set the field as Required. New or edited assets can't be saved if left blank.

      3. Optionally, also create a SmartList of the template names for the asset to allow a quick selection of the name.

      4. Optionally, the field could be customized to a Yes/No choice for 'Template Applied?'

    2. The asset entry person would complete the field to save the asset.

    Someone could complete the field without applying the template, of course. However, it would serve as a reminder that the template should be applied.
