Assigning a template (using its name) during custom import would be helpful. Imported data, such as Acquisition Date, Placed in Service Date, and Acquisition Value, should overwrite the template's values. Then the import file would only include unique information such as:
Spreadsheet: Asset description, Vendor, Acquisition Date, PIS Date, Acq. Value, Vendor, Invoice Date, Location, Template Name (i.e. 'Laptops')
The template's data would complete the asset creation for other fields designated in the template. Such as:
Template: GL Account numbers, Book fields for all books (Method, Life), Class, Personal Property Tax Category
This is an awesome suggestion that will save the customer a tremendous amount of time as it cuts down on data entry.
