Multi-currency: Specify currency code at the Company level

Sage City Idea - submitted by Sage employee on behalf of a customer :

"I want to designate the currency symbol and adjust the currency values format."

Sage City Comment by V Long:

"We also have companies in different base currencies, GBP, INR, SNG, EUR, etc. in Premier Deprecation. We enter all assets in the company base currency using a custom field to input the currency code. It would be extremely helpful to have a option in the company settings for a currency code and symbol that then appears in the screens and reports, removing all of those $ everywhere. Not looking for currency translation or anything else related to multi-currency, just a code or symbol that represents the activity in the company to remove confusion and satisfy auditors."

Scope for estimating:

Allow the customer to set the Currency Code at a COMPANY level. Reports that currently show $, would show the symbol for the selected currency.

To be discussed: Allow user to specify the date format for all fields (asked about by Intacct partner channel manager)

I agree with Stuart, we are in the process of migrating all of our assets worldwide and it would be very beneficial to be able to have all currencies available in SFA as well as having an option to view the screens in the users current language.

I agree. We have a setup where we hold assets in different offices internationally. Each office naturally wants to operate its accounts in their own currency, which Sage advised us to do via holding each office as a separate company. This makes perfect sense and seems to work well. The primary issue that comes up is that not every office uses the dollar sign for their currency, on a couple of levels - for users who work across offices, it adds a level of confusion as to which office they might be working in, whereas having each office use the euro or pound sterling sign would allow for clarity, and locally where users may never interact with dollar amounts, but have to enter e.g. euro amounts as shown on an invoice, but the figures are shown in Sage as dollars.

I also would like to be able to select the date format - see the Idea: Ability to choose date formats by company
